What Is Dry Needling?

Dry needling is a soft tissue technique that involves the use of very fine, sterile needles inserted into specific areas of muscle, often referred to as trigger points. These points can develop when muscles are overloaded, stressed or not functioning optimally.

The aim of dry needling is to support muscle relaxation, reduce sensitivity and assist normal movement patterns. It is different from acupuncture and is based on modern musculoskeletal and neurophysiological principles.

At The Wellness Mecca, dry needling is only used when clinically appropriate and is always tailored to you.

How Dry Needling May Help?

Muscles that remain tight or reactive can contribute to pain, reduced range of motion and altered movement patterns. Dry needling may help by encouraging a change in muscle tone and improving how the muscle responds to load.

Dry needling may assist with:

  • Reducing muscle tension and trigger point sensitivity

  • Improving range of motion

  • Supporting recovery from physical activity or training

  • Assisting with persistent muscular discomfort

  • Supporting overall movement efficiency

Care is focused on helping your body move and feel better, not chasing symptoms alone.

What Does Dry Needling Feel Like?

Most people feel very little as the needle is inserted. When a sensitive area of muscle is targeted, you may feel a brief twitch or cramping sensation. This response is normal and usually settles quickly.

After treatment, some people experience mild soreness similar to post exercise muscle fatigue. This typically resolves within 24 to 48 hours.

We always explain what to expect beforehand and adjust treatment based on your comfort and response.
